About me
Biography
Eros Gasparini, Venetian artist, was born in 1973.
1986 to 1991 pictorial decoration, Istituto Statale d’Arte of Venice.
1991 to 1996 painting, Accademia di Belle Arti, Venice.
I do not paint architecture. I paint the attempt to hold onto it.
What interests me is not the place itself, but the moment when it ceases to be present and becomes memory. It is a fragile, almost imperceptible transition: forms lose their precision, contours dissolve, and what remains is no longer a space, but an experience.
The repetition of arches is not merely a formal choice. It is the way memory insists, returning to the same places, attempting to preserve what inevitably escapes. Architecture thus becomes a mental structure, a fragile attempt to give shape to something that is already transforming.
My work originates from the impossibility of things remaining unchanged. Nothing remains identical to itself: everything evolves, shifts, and transforms. For this reason, I do not seek definitive images, but unstable forms, constantly exposed to the passage of time.
Matter is at the core of my research. I do not consider it a tool, but a living organism. Through metal powders and interventions with acids, I activate authentic processes of oxidation and metamorphosis that transform the surface of the artwork. I do not paint through gesture alone: I allow matter to react, allowing time to enter the painting and continue to modify it.
Acid does not simply corrode the surface: it returns it to its natural process of transformation. Oxidation is not a visual effect, but the visible testimony of change. Each surface preserves the memory of its own metamorphoses, making every artwork unique and unrepeatable.
Between intention and unpredictability, between control and the reaction of matter, an unstable balance emerges in which transformation is not the outcome of the artwork: it is the artwork itself.
Light also becomes part of this process. It does not illuminate the form, but passes through it, consumes it, and leads it toward a threshold where the visible and the invisible come into contact. It is a light that does not reveal, but transforms.
Each painting is an attempt to hold an image at the precise moment in which it is already becoming something else. I do not seek to stop time: I seek to make it visible through matter.
Eros Gasparini develops an artistic research focused on the relationship between memory, time, and the transformation of matter. Through a personal technique that combines painting, metal powders, and oxidation processes obtained through the use of acids, he creates works in which the surface becomes a living organism, capable of recording the passage of time and transforming itself through continuous metamorphosis.
His works are held in private collections in Italy and in numerous countries around the world, reflecting the growing international interest in a practice that combines material experimentation, poetic depth, and a vision of art as an ongoing process of transformation.
